# Access to microphone and camera

## Microphone {#microphone}

<!--По этому разделу написаны фактовые ответы. Если раздел обновился, не забудьте проверить и обновить ответы в файле fact-answers.yaml.-->

To work properly, some sites require a microphone. For example, to record voice messages or organize video conferences. Allow only trusted sites to access your microphone. Otherwise, unknown companies or malware might connect to it.

By default, when a site tries to access your microphone, [the Yandex Browser beta version](https://browser.yandex.com/beta/) asks you for permission.

After you allow or deny a site access to your microphone, the Protect panel displays the **Use your microphone** option and the ![](../_image/microphone-icon.png), or the ![](../_image/no-micro-icon.png) icon appears in the [SmartBox](*smart-link). If access to microphone is denied, it will be permanent for this site. HTTPS sites are granted permanent automatic access to microphone, while HTTP sites are granted access for one session.
